Meet Founder Lance Laspina
Hi there, I’m Lance Laspina. After spending 26 years in Southern California, I recently made the move to beautiful Atascadero—drawn by its charm, community, and potential. While living in Agoura Hills, I discovered my love for mountain biking and quickly became an avid rider, competing in both cross‑country and enduro races. In 2013, I captured the overall Singlespeed Series Championship at the Fontana Southridge Winter Series and placed second overall in the Kenda Cup West XC Series that same season. Later, I branched into enduro racing, earning several second‑place podium finishes.
Although I’ve since stepped away from racing, my passion for mountain biking has never faded. After arriving in Atascadero in 2023, I was struck by how few trails exist here in North County compared to the incredible terrain that surrounds us. Most of the county’s top‑tier riding is located far to the south, requiring a long drive—but it doesn’t have to be that way and the data I've assembled here on this site makes for a compelling argument.
My goal with this project is to help the Atascadero City Council recognize what a tremendous opportunity they have right here. Our town sits on an untapped gold mine for sustainable, recreation‑based economic growth. With its oak‑covered hills, scenic mountains, local wineries and breweries, and nearly perfect year‑round weather, Atascadero has every ingredient to become a premier mountain biking destination in California. While other regions quiet down during the winter months, we could be welcoming riders all season long.
If you share this vision or have ideas of your own to help move it forward, I’d love to connect. Drop me a line below—and until then, ride on!
